2 questions for Adrien Gardère, the biennal's scenographer

HOW DID YOU APPROACH THIS SECOND EDITION OF RÉVÉLATIONS?

Copyright : Photoproevent.

With, on the one hand, the will to maintain the strong identity and aesthetics established during the first edition, with its playful skylights, transparency and openings that provide each artist exhibiting at the fair with their own space; on the other hand, I wanted to transform the central exhibition of the "banquet" into an international exhibition, using a brand new curatorial concept and design.

Drawing on the imaginary and aesthetics of Korea - this year's guest of honour - the large tables of the banquet (that celebrated French fine crafts during the first edition) have been transformed into an archipelago of pebbles - like "stepping-stones" in a Zen garden - in order to honour fine crafts and know-how from all over the world.

And, through a knock-on effect, by redesigning the tables of the central banquet, we altered the entire perception of the fair as the skylights of the first edition gradually became "bamboo screens" this year.

The fair thus took on a more organic feel, becoming even greener than the first edition.

WHAT IS LIKELY TO SURPRISE THIS YEAR'S VISITORS?

Probably first and foremost the work exhibited, this year's selection having been carried out to an extremely high standard.
