An act of artistic expression, creation is also the affirmation of a culture, a history, a territory. It is especially important for creators from indigenous peoples, whose know-how reflects an artistic identity that is both unique and plural, between tradition and modernity, reflecting the diversity of art crafts.
The works thus created are a key to cultural understanding and the imprint of peoples who have always been there; although contemporary, they bear the seal of authenticity.
They also express a sustainable creative approach, respectful of an environment of which the indigenous people are the ancestral guardians.
The challenges of recognizing and transmitting this know-how, but also of promoting and protecting the resulting cultural heritage, are all the more acute.
By associating cultural institutions and indigenous craftsmen/women, this conference is an opportunity to question this artistic heritage and the essential preservation of this know-how.
