« Nous avons imaginé un événement qui célèbre la force et la vitalité créative des artistes de la matière du monde entier. Ce moment unique, sublime les savoir-faire, révèle la création contemporaine et inspire les talents de demain. Révélations nourrit les débats autour des enjeux actuels d’un secteur entier et projette à l’international l’image prestigieuse des métiers d’art. »
Excellence, avant-gardism, and eclecticism are the values carried forth by the Révélations biennial. It is a time for privileged interactions and for discovering tomorrow’s trends in an exceptional setting, the Temporary Grand Palais.
Organised and held by Ateliers d’Art de France since 2013, Révélations asserts the identity and role of creators in society and in the global creative market. It offers a unique opportunity for fine craft professionals to seek out their audiences, celebrate their boldness through unprecedented works, and showcase their daily commitment.
Révélations is a major economic event for contemporary creation in France and abroad. The prestigious biennial, reflecting the sector’s diversity, ensures creators the presence of key decision-makers and prescribers to enrich their network and generate new orders.
Thanks to the unique scenography created by Adrien Gardère, 3,000 pieces will be revealed to the public in an unbiased way. This is an invitation to go behind the scenes of fine craft workshops and to meet the creators.
To ensure the excellence and quality of the works displayed, Révélations appoints an Artistic Steering Committee every two years to select the creators who will be exhibiting. The panel is made up of nine representatives from the entire sector of contemporary creation: creators, gallery owners, art school directors, prescribers (designers, architects, etc.), collectors, and so on. The committee gathers for three sessions to examine applications.
Reflecting the vitality of international contemporary creation, Révélations consecrates Paris as the world epicentre for the creative universe for four days and one pre-opening day reserved to professionals.
For this fifth edition, the biennial has chosen to honour the African continent, a theme that resonates with the Africa2020 Season. The cradle of an abundant creative dynamic, the African continent will be the common theme running through the biennial, offering visitors the opportunity to discover material artists from a wide array of countries.
